Sewing Class Graduates on September 21, 2023
The program focuses on practical, income-generating skills, with a strong emphasis on sewing, alongside crocheting and beading. Sewing serves as a cornerstone of the training—grannies learn everything from basic stitching techniques to operating sewing machines, creating garments, household items, and hand-crafted accessories. This not only boosts their confidence but also equips them with the tools to create products they can sell within their communities or at local markets.
At the end of the 12-week course, each participant receives a certificate of completion, recognizing their hard work and newly acquired skills. This initiative not only promotes economic self-reliance but also fosters dignity, creativity, and a sense of community among the grannies of Khayelitsha.
